The Creatinine (Creat) test, also known as Blood creatinine, serum creatinine, or urine creatinine, helps in evaluating the health of the kidneys.
Why Get Tested?
It is done as a part of regular comprehensive or basic metabolic testing. Your doctor may suggest you if you show symptoms of kidney disorders or in case of health problems that may affect kidney health. It is also done in order to monitor the treatment for Kidney problems.
How Is It Done?
A blood sample is drawn from a vein in your arm. A 24-hour urine sample may also be needed in a few health conditions.
Any Preparation Needed?
Overnight fasting is preferred and avoid eating meat a day before the tests.
